The update (which Chmielarz admits amounts to “yeah of course we’re still making the game”) includes a few screenshots of new areas, enemies and a video of the animation/AI systems for Witchfire.Ĭhmielarz laments that “it’s still an unknown number of seasons before the game is ready”, but quips that the team is “doing the best we can, though!”.

This all leads up to Chmielarz stating that Witchfire is now in “full production”, saying that their team of eight developers “know exactly what the game is”. Witchfire is coming to the Epic Games Store in Q4 2022 as an Early Access, with other platforms confirmed for the full game but no confirmed release date. Chmielarz explains that this is due to the rigors of production, combined with the task of finding “the game” and making sure that the idea is clear before production begins in earnest. “It’s been four years since then, and we still don’t even know the title of their next project.”Ĭhmielarz goes on, postulating that when an indie studio has a properly successful game, instead of speeding headlong into production on a follow-up, the studio “somehow slows down instead of speeding up”.
